Neighborhood Park… Stock your picnic basket and head to Miller Park. A tributary of Red Butte Creek meanders through Miller Park in the northwest quadrant of the Harvard -Yale area. This creates a shaded gully for an urban forest and bird refuge – it’s a popular park with locals. Two mini-amphitheaters, a beautiful historic stone bridge, larger amphitheater and whimsical stone walls come together to create a secret garden for the neighborhood locals. Miller Park has been recently restored so if you haven’t walked the trails lately, this is your chance to spend a lazy day in the park.
Waking down the streets you’ll realize the area is mix of residents, with a come one, come all attitude. One thing for sure is this downtown neighborhood has many family and kid-friendly attractions nearby. The local ice rink is right close, Steiner Aquatic Center is within walking distance and will keep the kiddos happy year-round with an indoor and outdoor pool. The Hogle Zoo is just a short drive away and has recently undergone (and is still undergoing) lots of improvements and updated exhibits like Rocky Shores where you can see a polar bear, sea lions, seals and otters. This is the Place Heritage Park is another great place to put on your list of summer adventures. Step back in time and see the West as it was in the early settlement of Utah. Kids can meet farm animals up close, pan for gold, grind corn or make arrowhead necklaces.
